A consignment of cocaine worth more than R14million has been seized at the Port of Ngqura in Port Elizabeth at the weekend.
Hawks spokesperson, Captain Yolisa Mgolodela, says a joint team of Serious Organised Crime Investigators followed up on a lead about drug trafficking when the discovery was made on Saturday.
She says the team discovered the cocaine in a container that is meant to be used as storage for deboned beef, which was in transit through the Port being shipped between Brazil and China.
Mgolodela says the 30 bricks of cocaine were found hidden in the electronic sections of the container and was seized for further investigation.
