The Department of Basic Education says the marking of matric exam papers has been completed.
The Department said in a statement on Friday that Minister Angie Motshekga will release the results on the 6th of January 2014.
It says Motshekga will only release the overall pass rates, both nationally and provincially, while the individual results will be available at schools the following day.
A total of 57 690 full-time and 130 646 part-time candidates sat for the 2013 matric examinations in 6 699 exam centres.
The Department says quality assurance by Umalusi will take place.
Matric results for pupils from the Eastern Cape will be available on the Algoa FM website from 6am on the 7th of January. Pupils from the Western Cape can view their results also on www.algoafm.co.za from 5am on the 8th of January.
