Many left homeless after 38 shacks burn down near Cape Town

A fire near Philippi in Cape Town has left 150 people without homes.

The city's disaster risk management centre said today that the fire raged through Heinz Park yesterday afternoon, destroying 38 shacks.

No casualties were reported.

The city provided food parcels and other relief to fire victims.

The cause of the blaze is not yet known.
