Manhunt underway after KZN cop kidnapped and killed

File

Kwazulu Natal police launched a manhunt for two suspects who kidnapped and killed a police officer in Kwa Mbonambi on Tuesday night.

Colonel Robert Netshiunda said Warrant Officer Nkosinathi Ntinga was with his wife, also a police officer, at their home at Phetane Reserve with a colleague when two men barged into the house.

He said they robbed the two police officers of their service pistols and cell phones, before forcing Warrant Officer Ntinga and the SAPS clerk into a vehicle and drove off.

“The Sergeant (wife) was left in the house unharmed,” he said.

Ntshiunda said the un-named clerk, who works at the Ntambanana police station, was found lying along the road with injuries and it is suspected that he was thrown out of a moving vehicle.

“Warrant Officer Ntinga was found dead at the Umsunduze River Bank with multiple gunshot wounds. The vehicle was found abandoned in a sugarcane field, a short distance from where the police officer's body was found,” he said.

Police are appealing to anyone who might have information regarding the whereabouts of the suspects to contact the nearest police or call our Crime Stop number 08600 10111.
