Gauteng police have launched a manhunt to arrest a group of suspects who blew up a cash-in-transit vehicle in Hammanskraal.
Police spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Amanda van Wyk, said the driver and two crew were intercepted by a heavily armed gang who rammed their vehicle with a Mercedes Benz car.
She said they also fired shots at the guards before using explosives to blow up the van, taking an undisclosed amount of money.
Van Wyk said the suspects reportedly fled the scene in a white Ford Ranger bakkie.
She said community members were also warned "not find themselves on the wrong side of the law" by looting money from the scene or tampering with evidence.
"Just two weeks ago, police foiled a planned CIT heist in Dobsonville and recovered three vehicles used during the commission of the crime as well as an R5 and three AK47 assault rifles.
"Two suspects were fatally wounded during this incident," she said.
