The Police Ministry said that the investigation against the Deputy Minister of Higher Education who assaulted a woman in a Johannesburg nightclub is nearing completion.
Ministry spokesperson, Vuyo Mhaga, told Algoa FM News on Wednesday that the docket will then be presented to the Prosecution’s Authority for a decision.
He was commenting on a media report suggesting that Deputy Minister Mduduzi Manana, could appear in court as early as Thursday for the assault on Mandisa Duma in Cubana nightclub in Fourways.
“We are basically at the tail-end of the investigation. Obviously then the docket will be presented to the senior public prosecutor for a decision,” Mhaga said.
He said that Manana’s court appearance was “imminent”.
The assault on Duma was captured on a cellphone camera by an SABC journalist.
Manana has apologized for the incident which has been widely condemned with some political leaders and women’s groups calling for his arrest.
