The manager of the Sakhumzi restaurant in Soweto was shot and killed on Sunday, Johannesburg police confirmed on Monday.
Police spokesperson, Captain Kay Makhubele, said the manager of the restaurant on Vilakazi Street was shot several times by suspects who then fled the scene.
“Two armed suspects forced entry into the restaurant while the manager and the staff were cashing up on Sunday morning.
The manager denied them entry, one of the suspects shot him several times and he died on the scene,” said Makhubele.
Makhubele said a case of murder and robbery had been opened. No arrests had been made and police were still investigating.
