Limpopo police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 13-year-old girl and the murder of the man in whose house her decomposed body was found.
Police spokesperson, Brigadier Motlafelo Mojapelo, said the man was in hiding after the body of Kabelo Malatji was found in his house in Motlolo Village in the Driekop policing area.
He said the man was found “hiding in the same village and stoned to death last night (Weds).
Mojapelo said community members launched a search for the teenager when she left home last Friday to attend extra school lessons, but then never returned home.
He said on Monday the decomposing body of Kabelo was found after neighbours reported an unpleasant odour from the house of Calbin Mohlala.
Mojapelo said community members then went in search of Mohlala.
"He was subsequently found while hiding in the same village and stoned to death last night at about 19:00. Police were called and on arrival at the scene, they found the victim with severe wounds," he said.
Mohlala was later declared dead by members of the Emergency Medical Services who responded to the scene.
Police investigations are continuing.
