A motorist was shot and wounded after he pointed a firearm at a metro police officer in an apparent road rage incident in Honeydew, Johannesburg, early on Wednesday morning.
Metro Police Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar says the cars of the 24-year-old motorist and an off-duty metro police officer collided at an intersection.
The metro police officer was travelling with his girlfriend who is a police officer.
The motorist allegedly grabbed the policewoman's firearm and pointed it at the metro police officer.
Minaar says the officer reached for his own firearm and shot the motorist in the leg.
