Man shot for allegedly not stopping at roadblock

The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) on Friday said they were aware of a shooting incident involving a TMPD officer that took place at Park and Grosvenor Street in Hatfield, Pretoria.

TMPD spokesperson Superintendent Isaac Mahamba said one member of the public was killed during the shooting incident.

“It is not yet clear what transpired, the South African Police Service (SAPS) is handling the matter and they are still investigating,” said Mahamba.

The department can, however, confirm that one of its officers has been arrested and was being kept in custody at a local police station.

Mahamba said the TMPD’s Internal Affairs unit would also investigate the matter and would cooperate with the police on the investigation.

“Mahamba urged the members of the public who might have witnessed the incident to contact SAPS or TMPD at 012 358 7095/6
