The High Court in Pretoria has sentenced a 37-year-old man to life in prison for the murder of popular actor Sibusiso Khwinana.
Julies Lucas was handed an additional 23 years for robbery and being in the country illegally.
The 25-year-old actor was stabbed outside the Sterland cinema complex in Pretoria during what is believed to have been a cellphone robbery.
The incident happened after a screening of the movie 'Matwetwe' in which he played the lead role.
In delivering her judgment yesterday, Judge Portia Phahlane ordered that after serving his sentence, Lucas must be deported back to Tanzania.
His application for leave to appeal the conviction and sentence was dismissed.
