A 39-year-old man was sentenced to 13 years in prison by the Northern Cape High Court on Monday for killing his wife, police said.
Mzwandile Nqozi was arrested on 29 April last year, two weeks after he murdered his wife, Kerileng Mavis Nyathi Nqozi, 34, and then chopped up her body and packing her remains in a carry bag and then burying her in a shallow grave near Soul City, Galeshewe, in Kimberley.
Police spokesperson, Captain Olebogeng Tawana, said that on the day Nqozi murdered his wife, they had had an argument at their home in the presence of their 13-year-old daughter.
“He assaulted and bashed her head against the wall.
“The Court was satisfied by the testimony presented by the deceased’s daughter,” Tawana said. “She was found to be a credible witness.”
A forensic investigation was conducted at the house of the deceased after she was reported missing and during the investigation, blood stains were found inside the house.
