A 20-year-old man who along with three accomplices damaged electricity infrastructure was handed a 12-year sentence for copper cable theft in the Worcester Magistrate's court, the Hawks said on Monday.
Rethabile Mzolisa tampered with Eskom essential infrastructure in February 2018.
"Four suspects were spotted by Eskom employees walking under Eskom overhead cables at Noree Cape Lime, in Robertson," a statement from the Hawks said.
"Some of the suspects were seen cutting the copper cables with a bolt cutter whilst others were rolling it up. When approached, they ran in different directions and only one suspect was arrested."
Detectives are still trying to trace the other three suspects.
