A man, believed to be in his 30s, was killed on Friday morning when his bakkie collided with another vehicle, crashed through a fence and came to rest in a swimming pool off Westcliff Drive in Westcliff, Johannesburg.
A spokesperson for ER24 Russel Meiring says they arrived at the scene at about 6. 25 am where they found the bakkie inside the swimming pool in a residence, with the driver lying inside.
Police Search and Rescue personnel who also responded to the scene extricated the man from the vehicle, before being assessed by paramedics.
Meiring says the man had sustained a serious head injury and showed no signs of life.
Nothing could be done for him and he was declared dead on the scene.
The exact circumstances that led to the accident are unknown at this stage and will be investigated by police.
The name of the victim has not yet been released.
