A man who inherited seven firearms from his later father was arrested for not obtaining licenses for these weapons.
A spokesperson for the police in Mpumalanga, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala says 33-year-old Martin Nelson was arrested at his house in Emalahleni last week when police reacted on a tip-off
He says Nelson was initially arrested for being in possession of nine different firearms and 617 live rounds of ammunition but it was later discovered that only two had valid licenses.
Brigadier Mohlala says Nelson is accused of threatening community members when he is under the influence of alcohol and at the time of his arrest he had a rifle and gun next to his bed.
Nelson was released on bail of R3 000 and he will be back in court on the 10th of April.
