Man in custody for allegedly smashing windows at ConCourt

A 36-year-old suspect is in police custody after he allegedly broke several windows at the Constitutional Court buildings in Braamfontein.

The man, who can only be identified once he has appeared in court reportedly used a hammer in Wednesday's incident.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Robert Netshiunda says police fired a warning shot before arresting the suspect.

He will be charged with malicious damage to property.

This is the second attack on a national key point following the devastating fire at Parliament in Cape Town.
