A scuba diver went into cardiac arrest shortly after surfacing from the water at Umkomaas on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast.
Netcare 911 spokesperson, Shawn Herbst said the responded to the incident at around noon on Friday.
"Fellow divers had initiated CPR while the boat raced back to shore where CPR was continued by an Advanced life support paramedic. Despite best efforts to save the man's life he was sadly declared deceased on the scene," said Herbst.
He said all necessary authorities were on the scene to conduct further investigations.
