A man and and two-year-old boy are in a critical condition after a shooting incident in Olievenhoutbosch, Centurion.
ER24 said paramedics were called to a nearby police station where they were then escorted to the scene.
“Upon arrival ER24 paramedics found one male patient had sustained gunshot wounds to his back and neck and was in a critical condition. Immediate Advanced life support interventions were performed in an effort to stabilise the patient,” said spokesperson, Russel Meiring.
“Once stabilised the patient was transported by ER24 paramedics to a nearby private hospital for urgent treatment,” he said.
Meiring said “a second ER24 ambulance was on route the scene to provide assistance when they were flagged down by members of the public on the R55. Upon assessment the ER24 paramedics found a 2-year-old had sustained a gunshot wound to the head and was in a critical condition.”
“ER24 paramedics, along with another service, immediately began their treatment and stabilised the child with advanced life support interventions,” he said.
Meiring said it is believed that the both incidents are related but local authorities will be investigating further.
