A magistrate from Carletonville near Johannesburg has found himself on the wrong side of the law.
The Hawks said on Friday that the 49-year-old judicial officer was arrested for alleged corruption.
Spokesperson Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said he had allegedly demanded a bribe from two women who were arrested last week for theft.
He said the Hawks were informed and a sting operation was conducted on Thursday night which led to the arrest.
The Magistrate is expected to appear in court on Monday on charges of corruption and extortion.
