Strip club boss Lolly Jackson's alleged killer George Luca is due to appear in a court in Cyprus on Tuesday.
National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Mthunzi Mhaga says they started extradition proceedings before Luca's arrest.
He was apprehended by Cypriot police last week.
National police spokesperson, Lt-Col Vishnu Naidoo, says Luca had been on the run since 2010.
Luca allegedly phoned Gauteng crime intelligence boss Joey Mabasa and confessed to killing Jackson shortly after the murder.
