A former teacher and Media24 executive, 55-year-old Willem Breytenbach, was arrested in Hartenbos near Mossel Bay on Tuesday afternoon.
He had apparently just finished a session at a psychologist when he was arrested in connection with sexual assault charges.
His arrest follows a weekly podcast by Johannesburg-based copywriter, Deon Wiggett, who had accused Breytenbach of raping him in 1997 when he was 17-years-old.
He promptly left Cape Town after Wiggett levelled the allegations against him and had been living at his elderly mother's house in Reebok near Great Brak River for the past few weeks.
Breytenbach, who has also been accused of sexually molesting several schoolboys at three schools where he taught from 1989 to 1994, will appear in court in Cape Town on Thursday.
Listen to the first episode of Wiggett's podcasts where he talks about his alleged abuser and how he started to investigate him.
