A lioness is on the loose after it escaped from the back of a Ford Ranger bakkie in the North West Province.
According to authorities, the lioness was placed in a container on the back of the bakkie on Wednesday when it escaped.
The owner was travelling on the Beesdam road between Stella and Tlagameng and said he only realised she was gone when he reached his destination.
Nature Conservation officials are currently assisting local police to trace the animal.
