Limpopo farmer strangled in his sleep

A 29-year-old man has been arrested after the murder of a 53-year-old game farmer who was asleep in his farmhouse in Bela Bela on Saturday, Limpopo police said.

“Preliminary investigation showed the deceased may have been strangled. However, a postmortem is still to be conducted to determine the exact cause of death. Intruders forced their way into the house and killed him before removing a safe and fled the house,” spokesman Lieutenant Malesela Ledwaba said.

Police launched a manhunt and arrested a 29-year-old man.

“The stolen safe with its contents, a firearm, ammunition, and an undisclosed amount of cash were recovered in the bushes outside Bela Bela. The search for more suspects is ongoing,” Ledwaba said.

The arrested man faces charges of murder and possession of stolen property and would appear in the Bela Bela Magistrate’s Court soon. – African News Agency (ANA)
