The National Prosecuting Authority says well-known Limpopo comedian, Ntambudzeni Rasendedza was sentenced to 10 years of direct imprisonment in the Sibasa Regional Court following his conviction for attempted murder and assault.
NPA spokesperson, Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi, said Rasendedza, also known as “Bundu” had assaulted his girlfriend in August 2019, beating her with a wooden stick and electric cable.
She said he also dripped the burning plastic all over her body and locked her inside his house for two weeks.
Malabi-Dzangi said the second incident, to which had pleaded not guilty, resulted in the woman suffering a broken leg after he smashed it with a large stone.
She said the state argued in aggravation of sentence that the offences were serious and prevalent in the court‘s area of jurisdiction, calling for direct imprisonment.
The National Prosecuting Authority said it remained steadfast in prosecuting Gender Based Violence (GBV) cases.
