A Northern Cape man who was convicted of killing a police officer in 2020, has been jailed for life.
Hawks spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Tebogo Thebe, said 38-year-old Chidi Okafor, was sentenced on Tuesday in the Upington division of the high court.
He said Okafar was convicted in August last year of stabbing the policeman to death during a housebreaking in Keimoes, while his friend managed to get away.
"The suspect was traced to Klerksdorp, where he was arrested and brought back for a lengthy trial. Okafor was convicted in August 2024 and sentenced in 18 March 2025," Thebe said.
He said Okafor was also sentenced to 10 years on a charge of attempted murder.
The sentences will run concurrently.
