Latest Rhino poaching figures

The number of rhinos being poached around the country continues to rise.

The Department of Environmental Affairs says the number this year now stands at 245, up from the 220 reported on the 22nd of May.

Department spokesperson, Albie Modise, says the number of people arrested in connection with rhino poaching has also climbed to 161 from 146 in the last report.

Kruger National Park still continues to lose the most animals with 147 slain there since the beginning of the year.

Modise says of the 161 arrests made, 138 were poachers, 16 were receivers, couriers or buyers and seven were exporters.
