Last days for Jacob Zuma

President Jacob Zuma has refused to resign and has told the ruling African National Congress (ANC) party to "do what they want to do"

The ANC's highest decision-making body between conferences - the national executive committee - made the decision to recall Zuma after a 13-hour meeting held behind closed doors at Saint Georges hotel in Irene. The meeting began on Monday at 2 pm and ended in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

At some point during the meeting ANC leader and SA deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa and party secretary general, Ace Magashule, left the venue to inform Zuma, who was at his official residence in Pretoria, of their resolution - either he resigns or they recall him.

An official announcement on the premature end to Zuma's scandal-ridden presidency was expected later Tuesday - ANA
