Lack of skills in government open doors for corruption

Deputy Minister for Public Works - Jeremy Cronin - says a lack of skills within government is opening the door to corruption.
In a subtle reference to the Nkandla saga, Cronin says steps need to be taken to reduce government's vulnerability to exploitation and corruption.
He says the state has lost millions due to collusion and price fixing from the private sector and internal corruption by department officials.
Cronin says officials greenlight inflated costs when they don't know what the price tag should be for certain projects:
"I won't mention some particular KZN cases but many of you can imagine what I am referring to, the lesson from these cases where government is basically stolen from by unscrupulous private sector. Very often the problem is corruption inside of our department" he said
