A 32-year-old woman died on Monday morning, after she was mauled by three dogs at a residence in Pietermaritzburg.
ER24's Russel Meiring says paramedics, along with the police's Search and Rescue Unit, arrived at the house shortly before 11 o'clock, but were unable to approach the woman, as the dogs stood next to her body.
He says efforts were made in removing the dogs as well as to chase them away, but all their efforts proved unsuccessful and two of the three dogs had to be put down by the Police.
The third animal fled shortly afterwards.
Meiring says nothing more could be done for the victim, and she was declared dead at the scene.
It is not known what caused the dogs to attack the woman.
