A 45-year-old Kwazulu Natal woman and her 25-year-old daughter have been jailed for life following the conviction for the kidnapping and murder of a woman and her daughter.
The National Prosecuting Authority said Slindile Zamisa, and her daughter Andile, were sentenced to two life terms each in the Durban High Court this week.
NPA spokesperson, Natasha Ramkisson-Kara said they were also found guilty of defeating the ends of justice by the disposing of the bodies of Smangele Simamane and 12-year-old daughter, Sbongakonke in Newlands West in 2020.
She said the mother and daughter were accused of killing a relative using witchcraft.
Ramkisson-Kara said the accused held their two victims for several hours, torturing them during this time, and also assaulting and pouring water into their ears.
She said the NPA welcomes the successful sentences saying it would provide some solace for the family of the deceased.
