A Sergeant from Marianhill SAPS in Durban will appear in court on Monday on a charge of murder.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate said he was arrested on Thursday for allegedly kidnapping and killing a suspect.
“The IPID investigation led to the discovery of the deceased’s body which was hidden under the stormwater pipe near Camperdown,” said national spokesperson, Lizzy Suping.
She said the deceased was allegedly taken in for questioning by the accused officer on 21 August 2022 and never returned home.
The policeman will appear in the Pinetown Magistrate Court.
“The IPID investigation is continuing with a possibility of more arrests,” Suping said.
