Knysna mayor takes Open Door policy to a new level

Knysna executive mayor, Eleanor Bouw-Spies, is taking the notion of an open door policy to another level.

She has taken a leaf out the book of Western Cape MEC, Alan Winde, and is now also opening her office to the public on the First Thursday of every month.

Mayor Bouw Spies said that she was looking forward to opening the doors on these days and getting to meet and chat to local residents.

She said that each month's Open Thursday will be themed and the first one on March the Second is aimed at young entrepreneurs.

"I am looking forward to opening the doors on these days and getting to meet and chat to our residents. Each month's Open Thursday will be themed and for this first Open Thursday I would like to encourage our young entrepreneurs to come and share their business ideas with us," said the mayor.

To ensure access to all, executive mayor Bouw-Spies will set up office on the ground floor of the Clyde Street Municipal building every first Thursday of each month, and encourages Greater Knysna residents to join her between 17:00 - 19:30 on these days.

The Mayor's first Open Thursday is planned for 2 March, Ground Floor, Municipal Building, 5 Clyde Street, Knysna.

"We will have staff members from our Youth Desk and Economic Development (ED) on hand to assist with any questions these young entrepreneurs may have," concluded Bouw-Spies
