The Knysna community is once again being urged to use water sparingly as both the Gouna and Knysna Rivers, which feed the town's off-channel Akkerkloof storage Dam, have stopped flowing.
The town has just 19 days of water remaining and risks running dry.
Knysna Executive Mayor, Eleanor Bouw-Spies warned on Wednesday that Knysna is in a real crisis and is urging residents to use water sparingly and to report water abuse.
“Our Akkerkloof Dam at 30% which equates to 19 days of water,” said Bouw-Spies.
“As per our latest water report consumption is high and in Knysna is at 11.79 megalitres a day and our target is 10 megalitres a day,” she said.
Bouw-Spies said that consumption in Sedgefied is 2.15 megalitres and the target is 1.9 megalitres a day.
“Potable water under severe pressure and we are still under level three water restrictions,” she said.
