Free State police have appealed for information on the whereabouts of a key witness in a case involving a three-year-old boy who was given brandy to drink in October last year.
In a statement on Thursday, police spokesperson Captain Stephen Thakeng said the toddler started vomiting and the boy’s mother alleged that the suspect had given him cooldrink mixed with brandy.
The boy was taken to the hospital and later discharged.
“A case of assault GBH was registered at Odendaalsrus Police Station and the case was handed to Welkom Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Crimes Unit for further investigation. A 35-year-old suspect was arrested and the investigation is at an advanced stage.”
Thakeng said a key witness called “Mantwa” was needed to assist in the investigation.
