The couple found guilty in connection with the gruesome death of baby Daniel* will be back in court on Monday.
That’s when sentencing proceedings get underway in the ongoing trial of the child’s mother and her boyfriend who were convicted in December by Judge Collin Matshitse.
He found Maryke Cloete* guilty on two counts of child neglect while Timothy Naidoo* was found guilty of murder, child abuse and child neglect.
Three-year-old Baby Daniel* died a gruesome and shocking death in 2016 after suffering 60% burns throughout his body when he was submerged in boiling hot water and assaulted with blunt force injuries to his head and chest.
The lobby group, Women and Men Against Child Abuse, said: “while both convicted criminals are remanded in custody, we are one step closer to concluding sentencing”.
“We at WMACA will be satisfied that these child abuse monsters will never be allowed around children again,” said WMACA director, Miranda Jordan.
"Failing to protect your child leads to neglect, silence as a mother leads to the death or murder of your child,” she said.
