A 45-year old Indian crewman aboard a container ship, has died of unknown causes off East London coast.
The National sea Rescue Institute says the 150 meter-long Mid Fortune, sailing from Singapore to Togo and fully laden with palm oil, alerted the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre in the early hours of Wednesday morning that the crewman had fallen ill from unknown causes and was unconscious and requiring urgent medical assistance.
NSRI spokesperson, Craig Lambinon says when paramedics boarded the ship, they found that the crewman had already died.
Lambinon says the cause of death is not known, and that the body was handed over to the Forensic Pathology Services.
