Mpumalanga police say a game hunter stumbled upon the bones of a person who police now believe could have been dumped on the farm and set alight.
Spokesperson, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, said the remains are still unidentified and were discovered next to a tree in a field on Hekpoort farm in the Delmas area on Thursday.
The discovery was made by a person who was game hunting.
“Preliminary investigation thus far has revealed that the person could have been somehow dumped then set alight,” Mohlala said.
He said police are still trying to establish the circumstances surrounding the person's death.
“The identity, as well as the gender of the person, is unknown at this stage. However, police are currently probing an inquest which may probably be changed to murder looking at the evidence that points to the theory that a person could have been set alight,” he said.
