Reports from Washington say an American task force consisting of a US Navy nuclear-powered aircraft carrier and support vessels have been deployed in Southern African waters, to coincide with this weekend's visit by President Barack Obama.
According to the Washington Post, the aircraft carrier will provide 24-hour continuous air coverage by jet fighters flying in shifts.
On land, there'll be 56 support vehicles, including 14 limousines and specialised vehicles.
These include an ambulance equipped to handle biological and chemical contaminants, a truck with x-ray equipment, and three trucks loaded with sheets of bulletproof glass to cover the president’s hotel windows.
All of these required a fleet of 12 military cargo planes.
