In the last three months, the Department of Home Affairs disciplined 31 errant officials, prosecuting two, with more arrests on the way.
Spokesperson for the Minister of Home Affairs Duwayne Esau says these actions reflect the Department's intensified commitment to enforcing ethical governance and accelerating disciplinary and criminal sanctions against officials engaged in maladministration.
He says the officials faced transgressions relating to irregular recruitment and violation of the Citizenship Act and the Immigration Act.
Esau says Minister Leon Schreiber has a zero-tolerance approach for unethical conduct and corruption.
"Officials who fail to heed this message will soon find themselves out of Home Affairs and on their way to prison," he said.
Eight cases came from the Free State while six were dealt with in KwaZulu Natal.
Mogale Raseone
The Department says Mr Raseone was dismissed last year after the Counter-Corruption Branch implicated him in multiple transactions that benefitted mostly Pakistani nationals.
Esau says he allegedly manipulated the system Home Affairs uses to administer immigration.
Raseone will go on trial in November.
Dora Ncube
The Department says Ncube was recently arrested at Beitbridge and subsequently suspended after she allegedly tried to smuggle six foreign nationals into the country.
Her bail hearing is expected to conclude in Musina on Tuesday.
Esau says two dismissed officials, Judy Zuma and Tony Stout were also recently convicted for similar crimes.
He says more arrests are expected as the Special Investigating Unit (SIU), assisted by the Hawks progresses with the implementation of Proclamation 154 of 2024.
