Teachers and learners at Hoërskool Driehoek in Vanderbijlpark commemorated the life of their fellow learners who died when a walkway at the school collapsed two years ago today.
The tragedy which happened shortly after assembly on 1 February 2019, sent shockwaves through the nation.
Teachers across the country reported back to school on Monday, and even though pupils will only return in two weeks, the school's leadership joined in on the commemoration.
The 14-year-old Jandre Steyn, 17-year-old Roydon Olckers and the 13-year-old Marli Curry died on the scene while another learner, Marnus Nagel died later in hospital.
Another 22 learners were injured, leaving one Grade 9 pupil paralyzed.
Some of the children spent weeks and even months in hospital whilst recovering from their injuries.
