The Pretoria regional court has possibly set a new record by granting bail of R10-million to a man accused of ordering a hit on his estranged wife.
Magistrate Desmond Nair made the ruling on Tuesday after Nico Henning earlier offered to pay up to R5-million in bail fees.
He's charged with murder and conspiring to murder his 26-year-old wife, Chanelle, who was shot dead last November after dropping their son off at school.
Magistrate Nair ordered that an amount of R300 000 should be paid in cash, while guarantees must be provided for the remaining amount by Friday.
The matter was adjourned to enable the State and Henning's defence to discuss bail conditions.
