Hawks seize goods from alleged Mandrax dealers

Five cars and four properties belonging to six alleged Mandrax dealers have been seized by the Hawks in KwaZulu-Natal.

Hawks spokesperson, captain Paul Ramaloko says they'd received a court-order from the KZN High Court to restrain the assets which they believed were profits of drug dealing.

Two of the properties were in Springfield, one was in Newlands West and one was a farm in Tongaat.

The six were arrested in March 2010 and were charged with dealing in Mandrax and possession of cocaine.

More than 185 000 Mandrax tablets were confiscated from their properties. The tablets had an estimated street value of R3.3m at the time of the arrest.

Their trial is expected to start in the Durban Regional Court on Tuesday.
