Gupta's will cooperate with probe into illegal plane landing

The controversial Gupta family says they will co-operate with investigators probing the illegal landing of a private jet at Waterkloof Airforce base.

Gupta family spokesperson, Gary Naidoo, said on Saturday that the family had and would continue to cooperate in the interests of the full facts being brought to the fore.

Earlier this week, the family said it had not been directly involved in the Waterkloof incident, but had been assured by the Indian High Commission that proper processes has been followed.

Justice Minister, Jeff Radebe announced on Friday that five high ranking officials and military personnel had been suspended over the incident.

He said the landing was not cleared by proper authorities.

The Civil Aviation Authority says the operator of the Gupta family's chartered jet has been fined R80 000.

That's because the plane which landed at Waterkloof Airforce base without proper authorisation, did not have a foreign operator's permit.

President Jacob Zuma has welcomed the investigations underway into the landing of a Gupta family-chartered jet at the Waterkloof Air Force Base.

Presidential spokesperson, Mac Maharaj, says Zuma, is being kept abreast by ministers on the progress of the investigations.

Maharaj says president Zuma emphasised that the investigation should not be allowed to impact negatively on the relations between South Africa and India.
