A firearm seized by Kwazulu Natal police following a shoot-out with robbers in Durban, had allegedly been used to kill a policeman in Qumbu in the Eastern Cape.
And, according to police spokesperson, Thulani Zwane, one of the men wounded in the shooting was also wanted in Qumbu for murder, attempted murder and escaping from custody.
Zwane said on Wednesday that these discoveries were made in the follow up investigation into the incident in Phoenix in Durban in which one suspected robber was killed and the other wounded.
Two unlicensed firearms were recovered from the scene where the men had crashed their car following a police chase.
The wounded robber is under police guard in hospital.
