A government watchdog says it's a matter of grave concern that public officials are not held accountable for poor performances at departmental and local government level.
The Grahamstown based Public Service Accountability Monitor was commenting on published remarks by auditor general Terence Nombembe that the situation was more serious than originally thought.
Nombembe told Business Day that there should be a concern that there's a culture of not taking responsibility for poor audit outcomes.
