JOHANNESBURG, October 9 (ANA) – The Thami Dish Foundation said on Monday that they would be launching a Global LGBTIQ+ Network aimed at connecting professionals in the community and captains of the mainstream economy to create an inclusive global market.
“The theme for the inaugural networking conversation is unlocking the world and closing the distance by linking LGBTIQ+ communities globally, which focuses on NGOs [non-governmental organisations] geared towards creating inclusive spaces, educating societies and providing opportunities for LGBTIQ+ youth,” the Thami Dish Foundation said in a statement.
The foundation said the network was set to become a bi-annual global gathering, and would be a platform to link corporates, NGO, affinity groups, LGBTIQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Intersex) activists and governments in a bid to form partnerships for economic diversity that includes LGBTIQ+ across the globe.
They said their vision for the network platform was to transform the global trade and include LGBTIQ+ business, as well as affirm the identities of hardworking and active change agents across the board.
“The bi-annual gathering is a first for Africa and the world. It is therefore, the realisation of an African dream, the creation of a platform for bettering and improving the lives of the LGBTIQ+ in partnership with allies.”
The Global LGBTIQ+ Network will be launched on Wednesday, in Johannesburg.
