Gauteng Premier, David Makhura, is self-isolating after testing positive for Covid19.
He confirmed this in a statement after receiving his test results on Friday morning
Makhura is the latest official to test positive for coronavirus as infections continue to increase in the province.
On Thursday, the Gauteng Health Department announced that six officials from its Covid19 war room had tested positive for the virus.
This included Head of Department, Professor Mukhuli Lukhele.
The National Health Department said that Gauteng was becoming the epicentre of the outbreak with 81 546 cases.
Western Cape Premier, Alan Winde, is also in self-isolation after testing positive for the virus.
