Police in Gauteng have arrested 130 drunk drivers on Saturday night.
Captain Mavela Masondo says in Ennerdale alone they arrested 27 drunk drivers, including a taxi driver who was transporting 13 passengers.
He says similar operations were conducted in the rest of the province where another 90 drunk drivers were arrested.
The Provincial Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Elias Mawela expressed his concern about the number of drivers arrested for being under the influence, especially as the festive season is upon us.
Captain Masondo says they also raided a party in Finetown on Saturday where over 50 youngsters were drinking way past midnight, without wearing masks or adhering to social distancing.
He says several people were also arrested for drinking in the streets.
