The National Sea Rescue Institute said that a Gauteng man remains missing following a diving incident off Sodwana in Kwazulu Natal on Monday.
Spokesperson, Craig Lambinon, said in a statement on Friday that despite an extensive search by police, SAPS search and rescue as well as an air search by the South African Air Force, there was still no sign of 50-year-old Warren O'Reilly.
He said he went missing during “a technical dive offshore” of Sodwana Bay on Monday in the early afternoon.
Lambinon, said an extensive search operation was launched and was still ongoing.
He said O'Reilly’s family has requested privacy in this difficult time.
“We are appealing to commercial and recreational boaters to keep a sharp lookout, south of Sodwana Bay and southwards to beyond the Durban coastline.
“Hopes remain high that the diver surfaced and is adrift at sea,” Lambinon said.
