The Department of Mineral Resources and Energy has confirmed the fuel price adjustments for August.
It says from midnight on Tuesday, the price of both grades of petrol will increase by 37 cents per litre, and that of diesel by 72 cents.
The price of illuminating paraffin will increase by 71 cents per litre, while the price of LP gas will decrease by R1.61 per kilogram.
Department spokesperson, Robert Maake, said the average Brent Crude Oil price increased from $75.10 to $79.75 during the period under review.
He said this was due to increasing demand for crude oil from China and India and tightening supply due to continued production cuts.
Maake said “most analysts” expect supply constraints to push the fuel price higher in the coming weeks.
He said the Rand also appreciated, on average, against the US Dollar from R18.68 to R18.26 during the period under review.
The Department said no slate levy was applicable to the petrol and diesel price structure during August.
